Cover Your Heart Indy!

In Mr. Jones' case it was life saving advice.  It could have ruined mine.

"But to hold your heart I gotta put my hand in" - Vast Aire "The F Word"

This entry will not be a literary tour de force.  It'll probably fall somewhere in between a Zane novel & the YouTube comments section, but the message is loud and clear.

Those of us who have experienced heartache wear a heavy shell.  Scales upon scales as our disappointments mount.

Protected, but heavy.  Fortified, yet you rule the fortress alone.  One day a knock comes.  You almost believe it isn't real.  They wear similar scars.  Chain mail as a second skin.

Speaking to them soon reveals a deflated spirit.  Sharing the tribulations of wearing this accursed exoskeleton.  It clings and it numbs, but they believe with you  a citadel will not be necessary.  The shedding begins.  Piece by piece each thud a measure of trust.

You see the sincerity, gazing into their eyes reveals a future kingdom.  Prepared to take on the world.

Yet you still hold on while trying to move forward.  Knowing good and damn well you have no need of fortification against them.  You will not be lulled into a false security and then crushed at your weakest point.  Kindness will not be equated to weakness.

Why do you hold on?

What's their to be afraid of?  Fear doesn't need to eat through your armor.  It can and will devour you from within.  When opportunity knocks it can't be greeted from under your bed.

Being lightweight in love is an asset.

  1. I love it - a hard heart is a dead one. It's hard to remember that sometimes though. Glad you have :)
