2 Mello - Nastlevania

If you know me, you know I'm keen to a hip-hop/videogame mashup.  Came across this tumbling down this rabbit hole we call the internet and thought it was pretty dope.   Producer 2 Mello takes tunes from the Castlevania franchise and puts them to some of Nas' best work ("You Owe Me" notwithstanding.)

Open Letters, Open Caskets

From the dust we came, and to the dust we must return.  It is one of those rare absolutes in life.  And even then, we hold on.  Hold dear those things, breathless, the stink of death still fresh.  Hunched and weary, one corpse gives way to make space for another and another and another.  Granfalloon is now real.  It isn't the weight of the world we hold, it's an ounce of insecurity, a few pounds of hurt feelings and tons of anger.  Ferrying the festering, putrid corpses of what was and what is.  We become lifelong pallbearers, handling bodies both with pride and kid gloves.  Our spirits disfigured almost beyond recognition.

Why do we long suffer?  Force feeding ourselves would-ofs and could-ofs by the forkful, putting the repass before the wake. Nurtured bodies just vessels for emaciated souls.

Plain language usually is best.  Not that the above isn't plain, but what the fuck am I talking about? I'm sure you could figure it out, but let me make it plain and simple, crystal clear, cut and dry etc. etc.

I'm dealing with an immense amount of animosity and unanswered questions. Hell, at this point the questions have already been answered. Meanwhile, I lay comfortably under this bus with a B.L.T. as you cried your crocodile victim tears. You compromised my name, you attempted (and failed) to sabotage my relationship, oh then there's the tiny issue of pretending you don't owe me dough. These are serious accusations...you know what the worst part about it is?

I did absolutely nothing about it...Silly me for thinking I someone you considered a brother would do the right thing. Where was my fucking head? Give you time to decompress and come to your senses and fix what was broken? Nigga please! You made more effort to "ki ki ki" it up online than to fix the issue.

There was a time where I would think about what transpired, and I would instantly become furious. Whether your actions or my inaction was the cause didn't matter. What mattered is I changed for the worse. Became what a handful of people perceived me to be thanks to your spin.  This isn't me airing out dirty laundry, Lord knows I have plenty, but me taking that laundry and cutting it into rags to wash my car.

This Moment in Fight Scene History: The Dark Knight Returns, Part 2

Exhibit A in the case of Batman being a total badass.

Note: Disregard the music. The uploader took it upon himself to place music from "Transformers, The Movie"  when the dialogue and soundtrack from the film would have done just fine.

This Moment in Fight Scene History: The Raid Redemption

Think I'll make this a regular feature on the blog.  Maybe not a weekly kind of thing, more like a when the spirit moves me.  I have never been one of those "Hey did you know..." when it comes to media, especially movies.  I'm all about scenes, memorable moments.  The action genre, especially martial arts, has been a favorite since I could remember (I must've watched "Five Element Ninjas" a million times as a kid.)  The wire work, the choreography all combined to form a ball of awesome for the young Mr. Brooks.

I will use these entries to showcase the good, the bad, and the so bad it's good in cinematic brawls.  Hopefully, video included.  Well, let's get to it.

I'm going to jump right into the deep end.  "The Raid: Redemption" is an instant classic.  Non-stop action from end to end.  The fight scenes are brutal, rooted in reality yet leaves room for the fluidity and grace of a Kung Fu flick.  Oh...and a shitload of people get their shit pushed in...it's awesome.

If you haven't seen this movie, stop reading holla at your Blockbuster Redbox Netflix queue and give it a go, trust me on this.  Those that have know I could do one of these for every fight scene in the movie.  However, I think the scene that shines brightest is the final fight. Andi/Tama vs. Mad Dog.

You have moments in films where the final confrontations are built up very well and then the payoff is lackluster.  Not in "Raid's" case.  This donnybrook is just about seven minutes of 100% organic ass whooping.  All five foot something of Mad Dog is handing out that work double time.

Usually there's strength in numbers, but Mad Dog makes it a handicap match for Tami and Andi, alternating between who get's a knee in the face and a kick to the gut.  Each side falling down, then getting back up to take/give more punishment...then the "oh shit" moment happens....

I'm not going to type anymore.  Just bask in the awesome:
